Ramesh's eye-opening discovery

I thought my '₹10-a-day' insurance was just right for me. Bima Analyze showed me differently.

The Full Story

Ramesh, 42, is a small general store owner in Lucknow. He opens early, closes late, and prides himself on being that kind of man who plans ahead. "I am not rich," he says, "but I make sure that my family never feels the pinch."

A few years ago, an insurance agent came to his shop and introduced him to what sounded like a perfect plan: "Sir, just ₹10 a day, and your whole family is protected." The number stuck in his head. Ten rupees. Less than the cost of a cup of tea. "It sounded smart, manageable and safe," remembers Ramesh. "Why wouldn't I take it?"

He signed up on the spot. The agent handed him the papers, and Ramesh walked away, feeling like a responsible husband and father. For years, he proudly told friends and customers, "I have insurance, and it's only ₹10 a day!"

But like the majority of people, he never read the fine print. "I thought, if I'm paying every year, I must be covered," he says. That feeling of security persisted until one night, while browsing Facebook, Ramesh came across a post on Bima Analyze. Someone had shared how surprised they had found gaping holes in their policy.

Curiosity got the better of him, and he clicked on the link. "I wasn't expecting anything dramatic," he admits. "I just wanted to see how my policy compared."

A few minutes later, his Bima Report was ready - and what he read hit him harder than he expected. His so-called "₹10-a-day" plan covered far less than he imagined. The report showed that the total sum insured was barely enough for a short stay in a private hospital. There were limits on room rent, exclusions for common treatments, and long waiting periods for pre-existing conditions.

"It felt like I bought a lock for my door, but it only works if the thief comes between 9 and 5," said Ramesh, laughing, though the humour didn't last long. "Deep down, I realized it wasn't funny. It was dangerous. I thought I was protected, but in reality, my family would still struggle if something serious happened."

That report served as an eye-opener for Ramesh. It wasn't just about finding out what was missing; it was more about understanding how fragile his safety net really was. "Before Bima Analyze, I didn't even know what room rent limits were," he admits. "Now I do. And I know why it matters."

The following week, he spoke with his insurer to upgrade his coverage. He increased his sum insured, removed restrictive clauses, and even helped two of his close friends check their policies using Bima Analyze. "We realized we were all sitting on plans that looked good on paper but failed in real life."

When asked to describe what changed after that experience, Ramesh smiles. "Now, when someone says ₹10 a day is enough, I tell them, it's not about how little you pay, it's about how much it protects. Checking my policy on Bima Analyze was a small step, but it saved me from a very big shock later."
